North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores

The North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, located along the scenic Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores, NC, offers an immersive journey through the state's diverse aquatic environments, guiding visitors from the misty mountains to the open Atlantic Ocean. Housed in a 93,000-square-foot facility, it features over 50 exhibits with more than 4,500 animals and a combined 430,000 gallons of freshwater and saltwater displays. Highlights include a stunning 32-foot mountain waterfall at the entrance, playful river otters in freshwater habitats, interactive touch pools with stingrays, and the massive Living Shipwreck exhibit - a 306,000-gallon tank replicating historic North Carolina wrecks like Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge and the German U-352 submarine, where visitors can come eye-to-eye with sharks, sea turtles, and vibrant marine life through a dramatic 60-foot viewing window. Dedicated to inspiring appreciation and conservation of North Carolina's waterways, the aquarium also boasts outdoor bald eagle habitats, educational programs, and proximity to the Theodore Roosevelt Natural Area, making it a captivating destination for families, nature lovers, and anyone seeking to connect with the state's rich coastal heritage.
