Waterfall Hero Hikes: Neuse River Recreation Area (Flanners Beach)

Neuse River Recreation Area/Flanners Beach is a forest recreation area in Croatan National Forest near New Bern. The area is situated on the banks of Neuse River a few miles downstream of New Bern. There is a campsite, picnic area and several miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking. Due to damage from Hurricane Florence, the picnic area and beach area is closed for safety, but the campground and majority of the trails are open.

Directions:

From New Bern, head east on US-70 for about 10 miles and turn left onto Flanners Beach Road. Drive 1.6 miles to the picnic area parking at the end. The entrance to the campground is shortly before the end.
