Moores Creek National Battlefield

Moores Creek National Battlefield is a 88-acre historical battlefield managed by the National Park Service in Duplin County, North Carolina.  The battlefield commemorates the 1776 Battle of Moores Creek in which the Patriots secured a decisive victory against the Loyalists, ending British authority in the colony and prompting North Carolina to be the first colony to vote for independence.  Moores Creek was established as a National Military Park in 1926 and became a National Battlefield in 1980.
