Hurricane Forest Wildlife Refuge (Hartford)

Hurricane Forest Wildlife Refuge is a 142-acre park managed by the town of Hartford, adjacent to Hartford Town Forest.  Around 1900, the town of Hartford constructed two reservoirs as drinking water supplies for the town and surrounding communities.  In the 1950s, the town transitioned to a well system and the land around the reservoirs fell into neglect.  The town established the forest and built trails to provide residents and visitors opportunities for outdoor recreation.
