Hemlock Cliffs Special Place (Hoosier)

Hemlock Cliffs Special Place is an unusual box canyon with seasonal waterfalls in the Tell City Ranger District of Hoosier National Forest in Crawford County.  The area features sandstone cliffs, rock outcrops, shelters, and ravines.  Much of the sandstone is honeycombed by the weathering of iron ores in the rock.  A 1-mile trail leads down into the canyon and past the natural features.  Camping, fires are prohibited in the area and rock-climbing and rappelling are prohibited in the head of the canyon.

Directions:

From English, head south on IN-237 for about 6 miles and turn right on North Union Chapel Road.  Go 2.6 miles and turn right on Hatfield Road.  In 1.6 miles, go straight onto the National Forest Road and follow to the parking at the end.
