Duke Forest Hillsboro Division

The Hillsboro Division of Duke Forest is located in Orange County west of Hillsborough.  There are several miles of forest roads and fire trails open to hiking, mountain biking and equestrians.  As the primary function of the forest is research and education, hikers and other recreational users must stay on gated roads and blazed foot trails; off-trail hiking is prohibited.

Trails:

Cates Road:

Cates Road splits from Snake Fire Trail and heads south following the forest boundary.

Old Quarry Road:

Old Quarry Road connects Cates Road and Snake Fire Trail and leads out to an old abandoned rock quarry.

Snake Fire Trail:

Snake Fire Trail starts from Gate 32 on US-70 connector and ends at Old Quarry Road.
