Crowder District Park is a 33-acre park in southwest Wake County near Apex. The park was conceived in 1992 when Mrs. Doris Pierce Crowder of Durham donated 33 acres to Wake County to be used for public recreation. Using money from the Parks Bond Referendum, the park was constructed around Crowder Pond and officially opened to the public on June 6, 1988. Mrs. Crowder was the guest of honor at the ribbon-cutting. The park has playgrounds, picnic shelters, environmental education and about a mile of trails around the park, including a boardwalk on the pond.
