Chase State Fishing Lake & Wildlife Area

Chase State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area is a public area surrounding the lake in Chase County, 1.5 miles west of Cottonwood Falls in the Flint Hills region of the state.  The 109-acre lake was constructed in 1954 and is surrounded by 383 acres of managed wildlife area.  The lake is primarily used for fishing and there are several piers on the north shore of the lake.  Additionally, there are opportunities for hunting, primitive camping and wildlife viewing.

Directions:


From Cottonwood Falls, head west on Lake Road for 2 miles and turn left into Chase State Fishing Lake.  There are several parking areas along the road to access the lake.

Prather Creek Falls:


Prather Creek Falls is a waterfall on the spillway of Chase Lake.


Wildlife:

Smooth sumac (Rhus glabra)


Azure blue sage (Salvia azurea)
