Cascade Falls (Saco)

Casade Falls is a 20-foot waterfall on Cascade Brook in York County, Maine.  The waterfall is located in Cacade Falls Park, owned by the City of Saco.

Directions:


From Portland, head south on I-95 for about 5 miles and take exit 42.  Turn right onto Payne Road and go 2.5 miles and turn right on US-1 south.  Drive 2.3 miles and turn left onto Cascade Road.  Go 0.4 miles and the parking area is on the left.

Hike Description:


Pick up the Trout Pond Trail from the parking lot that immediately leads to a fork.  Go right and then right again at the next fork.  The trail heads steeply down to creek level near the base of the waterfall.  You can scramble up the side for a good view.


With the water level up, I had to wade the creek to get to the other side and scramble up for another view.


There are some cool cliffs on the river left side at the top of the waterfall.
