Bishop Castle

Bishop Castle is an elaborate private castle along CO-165 in Custer County southwest of Pueblo.  The castle was constructed over 50 years by one man, Jim Bishop, using rock from the surrounding national forest.  The castle contains a grand ballroom, three stories and numerous towers and staircases.  There is even a fire-breathing dragon at the top.  The castle is open to the public and free to visit, but if you enjoy your visit, consider making a donation.

The castle contains a number of towers with steeping winding staircases to go up and down.

Here is a video of descending one of the staircases.

The main room of the castle has beautiful stained glass windows.

Once up the towers, there are great views of the surrounding national forest.

Perhaps the coolest feature of the castle is the metal dragon on top.
